Moms want to burn some calories, learn some "Latin Ballroom moves" WHILE your children are taking a class?  Stacey offering Mom's Ballroom Workout simultaneously in adjacent studio!

Where are Classes held?  The Dance Family Studio. Click here

Is there room for my child?  Yes.  We have opened the classes to become a large group.  We keep the male/female ratio close by sending out emails when we need kids to

Do we need special shoes?  Yes, and our students receive a discount at Very Fine Shoes. Print your coupon here.  We suggest a pair of both Ballroom Shoes as well as a practice dance sneaker.

Who will be our instructor?  The Master Instructor of the California Ballroom Teachers Academy, and Director of The Dance Family Studio, Francisco Martinez. See further details here:

Will there be additional days or "after school times" starting in the Fall?  Originally this was a pilot program for homeschool families.  Now that we're seeing the interest, we will likely start additional kids class times in the Fall.

What will they be learning?  In Spring/Summer 2010 the dances will be East Coast Swing, Cha-Cha and other dances which will be part of the August performance we're looking forward to in Palm Springs (Performance is optional, but learning the routine will be offered to all weekly!)

Questions about the Summer?

So much fun and exciting stuff starting for the Summer, we want to be sure all your questions are answered:

How much is it for the kids?

  • $12 per class, paid for the month at the beginning of the month or

  • 6 class  punchcard for $69 (good for 60 days - excellent value & way to plan for vacations)

When do they learn the dance they would do perform?
There is a 15 minute break from 2pm-2:15pm (between the younger and older kids classes).  We will go over the dance moves for the performance in the 15 minutes on both Tuesday and Thursday.

Can the kids come Tuesday and Thursday?
Yes, they may, but they do not need to.  We will be reviewing the Performance Routine on Thursday that we learn on Tuesday.  The Performance Routine time (15 minutes) is FREE for all current students.

What if they’re not there every week for the performance rehearsal?
We will be reviewing each week.  In addition, you can download the music to practice at home.  In addition, you are welcome to video our Performance Routine Time for practice at home (or to send to a friend who is absent).

My kids are not out of school until June, can they start then?  And… Can they still be a part of the performance in Palm Springs ?

Start when they get out of school.  We will be welcoming a number of new students in June, and they will learn new moves with the rest of the group.  As for the Performance Routine Time, it will be perfect.  The Performance Routine will highlight different dancers at different times.  The routine has moments where some kids enter and others move, and older are highlighted, then then younger are highlighted.  All kids are welcome to learn the routine, but don’t need to learn everything to participate.  In addition, you can always view the video of the routine.

Will they have the chance to perform this other than in Palm Springs?
Yes!  They will be performing at both a convalescent home as well as at one of our studio parties!

Can my kids start later in the month?
Yes, if school gets out mid-month, your first month will be pro-rated.

What if I have a vacation planned?
If you know you’re going to be on vacation, just let us know at the beginning of the month when registering.  Payment for the month is due at the beginning of the month, but you’ll only pay for the classes you intend on attending. Sorry no refunds.

What are the details on the Summer Dance Camp in Palm Springs?  Whoosh… that’s a biiiiiiggggg question!  We’ll answer that in details soon, but let me give you a little overview:

First of all, the event director has been incredibly generous to our group – I was incredibly excited that he offered amazing things to our kids and parents!

v       The kids will perform in the middle of the current World Champions Performances on Saturday night  (We get to see amazing performances in addition to watching our amazing kids!)

v       Kids/Teens Pizza Party FREE in the Penthouse Suite just for kids!  (p.s. you can volunteer to oversee if you want to have extra parent eyeballs in the room!)

v       Parents $135 ticket to the event is lowered to $10 for one day or $20 for the entire 4 day event!  That gets you all the workshops, all the performances, entrance into your child’s performance and FULL access to the entire event!  Incredible!

v       Kids get the full access pass for half off!  They have special classes and workshops they can take with the professionals and world champions in the room set aside called, “BEGINNERS BOOTCAMP.”  Francisco and I will be teaching there, too.  We know most all of the instructors teaching these classes and we know they will take very good care of all of our kids!

v       This is only good when you identify yourselves as “Dance Family” or “Francisco and Stacey’s Chaperones.”  Too cool, though, eh?!?

v       The hotel offers a special for you if you mention three words, “People Who Dance”  Then you’ll get a great discount on the hotel room (normally $159, for you $92).

The special price has to be pre-purchased, (not at the door once we get to Palm Springs ).  We’ll have the details on that forthcoming.  The hotel sells out every year, so if you want to get your hotel room you can call The Renaissance Hotel ahead (we arrive the 12th, depart on the 15th)  So excited!
